DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL’S DIRECTOR OF CUSTOMER SERVICES PREPARES FOR CHARITY CYCLING CHALLENGE
1,000 Miles in Just Over Two Weeks
Brentwood, United Kingdom – July 23, 2008 – Steve Wright, Director of Customer Services for Digital Technology International (DTI), is preparing to embark on the ‘End–to–End’ charity bike ride from Land'’s End to John O’Groats, United Kingdom, aiming to raise £4,000 for The Hospice of St Francis, Berkhamsted. The charity aims to support the patients and families facing the crisis of serious illness. Steve will begin his journey with six other members of Leverstock Green Cycling team, on the 1st August and will be cycling for an average of seventy miles per day.
The arduous route from Land’s End in south Cornwall to John O’Groats in northern Scotland is approximately 874 miles and will take over two weeks to complete. Steve has been cycling for over four years, in which time he’s undertaken other cycling challenges such as the UK coast to coast routes, which involve cycling from Whitehaven to Sunderland and from Plymouth to Ilfracombe. Leverstock Green Cycling Team over the last eleven years has managed to raise nearly £32,000 for The British Heart Foundation by annually completing the 54–mile London to Brighton cycle ride.
Steve has worked for DTI for 21 years and has always been a cycling enthusiast. He comments: "The training for ‘End–to–End’ has been very tough, but this ride will be a great personal achievement for me and I am looking forward to it. I would like to thank DTI for all of the encouragement."
DTI, a leading supplier of publishing solutions to the newspaper industry, is showing its support of Steve’s efforts by becoming a premier sponsor of the ride. Paul Gillogaley, Vice President, International at DTI, stated: "We are proud to support Steve and this worthwhile charity during this tremendous challenge and hope they all complete the ride safely and successfully."
